What Is Express Entry

Express Entry is an online system that Canada Government use to manage applications for permanent residence from skilled workers based on their skills and ability to contribute to Canada’s economy.

Who Can Apply for Express Entry

Candidates must be eligible for one of the immigration programs in Express Entry to get into the pool. Candidates will get points based on the information in the profile, including skills and experience.

Bellow are all minimum requirements that candidates must qualify to open Express Entry profile:

Amount of work experience	One year in Canada in the last 3 years (either combination of full-time or part-time work)	One year continuous within the last 10 years (combination of part-time, full-time or more than 1 job in your primary occupation)	Two years within last 5 years (either combination of full-time or part-time work)
Job offer	Not required.	Not required. But you can get selection criteria (FSW) points for having a valid job offer.	Required: A valid job offer of full-time employment for a total period of at least 1 year or a certificate of qualification in that skilled trade issued by a Canadian provincial, territorial or federal authority
Education	Not required.	Secondary education required. You can get more selection criteria (FSW) points for your post-secondary education.	Not required.

To be chosen from the pool and invited to apply, applicants need to have one of the highest-ranking scores when CIC sends out invitations. If candidates are invited, they can apply for permanent residence.

The Express Entry profile will be ranked due to a point-based system of CIC called The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).

The points candidates get from the CRS include a core set of points up to 600 and a set of additional points of up to 600. Total score will be out of 1,200.
Core: Up to 600 points
- Skills and experience factors
- Spouse or common-law partner factors, such as their language skills and education
- Skills transferability, including education and work experience
Additional: Up to 600 points
- A valid job offer
- A nomination from a province or territory
- A brother or sister living in Canada who is a citizen or permanent resident
- Strong French language skills

Candidates can use the CRS tool to estimate their CRS score.

How To Apply Express Entry

Step 1: Meet all requirements

Candidates need to meet all minimum requirements to verify their eligibility for Express Entry

Step 2: Create and submit Express Entry Profile

After meeting all requirements, candidates need to create their Express Entry profile and update all personal information and required forms.

Candidates have 60 days to complete

Step 3: Apply for Permanent Resident

After submitting Express Entry profile candidates will wait for an Invitation from CIC.
After receiving Invitation from CIC candidates have 90 days to submit a complete application.
